The study intends to analyze the main requirements related to NPP life extension, to select the critical components for life assurance and life extension, to apply the basic concepts developed at international level in this field, for a Nuclear Power Plant with CANDU-6 reactor. The entire structure of this study shall be framed on a comprehensive assessment of the following main issues:
- • Basic aspects of evaluation methodology
- • Degradation mechanisms and their monitoring during plant operation
- • Selection of critical components essential for life extension
- • Probable plant status after 30 years of operation
- • Safety requirements to be fulfilled in order to assure life extension
- • Structures state and the required conditioning activities
- • Repairs of critical heavy equipment
- • Replacement of critical heavy equipment
- • Electrical components overhaul/replacement
- • Instrumentation and control components replacement aspects
- • Human effort to assure NPP repairs/replacements activities
- • Financial effort comparative to the revenue obtained through extension of energy period
